  Pintail \Pin"tail`\, n.
     1. (Zool.) A northern duck ({Dafila acuta), native of both
        continents. The adult male has a long, tapering tail.
        Called also gray duck, piketail, piket-tail,
        spike-tail, split-tail, springtail, sea pheasant,
        and gray widgeon.
