     feet or legs, to embarrass, F. emp[^e]trer; pref. em-, en-
     (L. in in) + LL. pastorium, pastoria, a fetter by which
     horses are prevented from wandering in the pastures, fr. L.
     pastorius belonging to a herdsman or shepherd, pastor a
